POST CANCER: LIVE, LOVE, EAT, TRAVEL

Now that you have heard my cancer biography, because as I said cancer does not define me, just an unwanted element in my life I have to contend with.

Post Cancer

I will start on how I am going to live my life to its fullest with cancer and all. I was going to start the blog when I was beginning my trip in April. But I realized that I have to start writing the blog now, I should have started even earlier, because a lot of preparation and maneuvering has to take place before you leave so that you can get your medication, injections, blood tests, and cat scans while you are out of the country.

INURANCE NOTE: As you know or will learn your American insurance will not cover any of this while you are not in the United States. Surprise, surprised. Insurance companies will cover emergencies while out of the country, but nothing else.  I will get into my insurance rant later.

Just to let you know that you can get all your medications and treatments when you go out of town in the United States.  I went to Idaho and got my shots and believe it or not, the insurance company picked up the bill.   But you must be proactive before you go.   You have to go see an oncologist from that place you are traveling to, make sure they are in your network for insurance purposes and that doctor will order your treatment.  Medicare  requires the same procedure.  Also make sure that when the doctor orders  the treatment  for you, that it is not categorized as a new treatment.  It will cause a great deal of delay if it is.  For insurance purposes it has to be categorized as a continued treatment only at a different facility.
