Now there is good news and bad news. Let’s start with the bad news: my medication is no longer working, my cancer is progressing and I may have cancer in my iliac bone. Good news: there is a different medication, Verzenio, to try. I will try it and hope that it will stop the progression and even get rid of the cancer. Well I just started the pills, two days ago. So far so good, but it is too soon to know of its efficacy. Next week I go to the doctor to get a blood test to make sure that my body is tolerating the medication. And to get an infusion to strengthen my bones. It is a treatment I will need to take every three months. But first one must get a release from a dentist saying that your teeth are healthy and will not need any dental work done for the moment. See I told you there was good news.
This is not what I wanted to hear, but hear it I did. So now I am scrambling to figure out how I will get enough medication to be able to go away for my next trip. Oh did I tell you, I just signed up for a four month trip to Vietnam, South Africa, Bali and Thailand. It starts in February. I will come home at the end of the second month to see my Oncologist and get a blood test, Pet Scan and the infusion for my bones. I will plan this now so that I can be sure that my insurance will approve it prior to my arrival.
Many of you will think that I am crazy to go away at this time and I would not debate you. I may be crazy, but I will be doing something fun, interesting, and something that I have always wanted to do. I will be too busy to think about my health, which I believe is the most healthy thing that I can do. So long as I take my medication, go to see my doctors when needed and get my tests, then there is nothing more that I can do. So why not enjoy my life. Life can for me, and anyone out there reading this, be either long or short, so why waste even a minute that you have. There are no guarantees in life so do what you can to bring happiness to your daily life and smile.
