AHH, THE AMALFI COAST

Amalfi Coast

Ahh, the hype!!! I was there, including Positano and I must say; it was not so great nor so different from the other sea side towns in Italy. What it had was beautiful scenery, but not worth the money for the privilege to see it. The food was mediocre, the accommodations were expensive, and the shops were over the top expensive with items no different from the items found elsewhere. But the clincher to my distaste for the local was the steps. Steps you may ask, yes steps , hundreds of steps of all shapes and sizes needed to be taken in order to get to town, the beach or even just to get to the nearest road. My thighs still ache even days later.

We are back to Palermo and we are going to take a road trip around Sicily. Should have never gone to the Amalfi Coast and just went all over Sicily, but who knew what it would be like. At least now I can check off the box that says I was there.

Lewis and I are now talking about when we return home regarding my health. We have Istanbul after this month, but arrangements must be made in advance. My Oncologist, who is in his 80’s, I believe that he will retire pretty soon. So I must decide who will take his place when that time comes. I think I will talk to the doctor I use for second opinions from Sloan Kettering in New York. I like her and the hospital that she is affiliated with has many clinical trials that I may want to try one of these days. So there are so many issues to be concerned about. But who me worry? I will just go on my merry old way and hope that before I die of cancer, I do not get hit by a bus or a bolt of lightening.

As I always say, Life it not merely surviving!!!! There are no guarantees, even if you are 100% healthy, that you will live beyond today. So enjoy, smile, laugh, tell someone important how you feel about them and live life to the fullest!!!
