A GREAT TIME IN SPLIT

Split

Split is a fascinating City. It is ancient and yet new. The Old City of Split is so colorful and vibrant it is like a movie set, yet it is a real. There are these 1700 year old walls and then there is a restaurant, a store, a bar within those walls. People actually live in the ruins and it is surreal. Turn a corner and you will find something new and different to see.

Split has many islands off its coast and each one is different. The largest and busiest island in regards to tourists is Havar. Havar is gorgeous with beautiful beaches, clean water, beautiful people and loads of restaurants, clubs and funky stores. I liked it so much I am going to go back this week to spend a couple of days. Then there is Vis, a much smaller island that I am told is much more laid back with far less tourists. I have reservations to spend four days there next week. There are many other islands and I will let you know about each of them once I have experienced them.

The sun is so very strong and the weather so very hot here. I am not supposed to be in the sun due to the drugs I am on, so of course I would go to a beach destination for a month. Oh and let’s not forget next month when I am in Valencia, Spain another hot destination. Due to my choices in locations to spend time in, I have had to go and buy some clothing to cover up while in the sun. A difficult proposition, I must say. But they do have some really funky clothing here. I try to cover up, but I am starting to believe that in order to avoid the intense heat of the day, I will have to avoid going out during said time.

All in all, I am really enjoying Croatia. I went ATVing today on the island of Ciovo. The scenery was something worth seeing. You can see all of the nearby islands from a point on the island that we drove up to and it has a 360 degree panoramic view. I did however, find out today that ATVing is not my thing. It is dusty, bumpy, noisy and it was hard to stop to see the beautiful scenery. Also my thumb hurt from pushing the accelerator on the handle bars. Give me a horse any day.

Live life, until you die! Because there are no guarantees in life. You may be dying of cancer, but you may die from a run away bus way before the cancer would have killed you! Just enjoy every day, smile as much as you can, laugh often and tomorrow I will again start taking my own advice.
